EFCEM in 2026

Working Groups overview and key dates

EFCEM's Working Groups (WGs) remain central to the Federation's technical and regulatory work, ensuring members are informed, represented and actively involved in shaping European legislation.

Following decisions taken at the NAP MCM (29 January 2026) and the Management Board Meeting (13 February 2026), the combined group WG1 BIM & WG4 Connectivity has now been formally separated into two distinct Working Groups to ensure greater focus and effectiveness.

Updated Working Group structure

WG1 – BIM
Interim convenor: Fabian Anzmann (HKI)

WG4 – Connectivity
Interim convenor: Joakim Granfors (EFCEM)

These groups sit alongside:

WG2 – Environment
WG3 – Health, Safety & Water
WG5 – Marketing

Together, EFCEM's Working Groups ensure the Federation continues to provide the catering equipment sector with impartial guidance, technical expertise and informed insight into regulatory and market developments.

Demonstrating impact
A recent example of EFCEM's collaborative influence is our joint industry effort with partner associations, including the Foodservice Equipment Association (FEA), to advocate for a UK–EU mutual recognition agreement on conformity assessment. This coordinated action aimed to reduce duplicative testing requirements and lower technical trade barriers for manufacturers operating across both markets, reinforcing EFCEM's commitment to practical regulatory solutions that benefit members.

2026 focus
Throughout 2026, the Federation will continue to address evolving European and global regulatory challenges through its Working Groups, concentrating on:

  • Digitalisation and data standards
  • Sustainability and environmental compliance
  • Health and safety requirements
  • Market positioning and industry visibility

The priority remains clear: delivering meaningful outcomes for EFCEM members.

How to join a Working Group
EFCEM encourages all members to take an active role in its Working Groups.

Each EFCEM member may nominate one or more technical experts per Working Group to participate in discussions shaping the European catering equipment sector.

Working Groups:

  • Meet at least twice per year (virtually)
  • Typically run for up to two hours

To nominate a representative
Please email the relevant WG Convenor including:

  • Subject line: “Request to join EFCEM WG [insert number]”
  • Member company name
  • Name and email address of the nominated representative
  • Job title
  • Brief description of role and relevant experience/qualifications

Please note:
If a nominated representative cannot attend a meeting, they may request a colleague to attend on their behalf. All nominations will be reviewed and confirmed by email once approved.

Stay aligned with EFCEM's key discussions and decision-making moments throughout the year.
